Community Services is a division of Nueces County Community Action Agency (NCCAA) which provides a variety of programs intended to empower people and build thriving communities by providing services that directly impact households transitioning out of poverty.
These services include: *Currently, we are providing rental and water utility assistance through CARES funding. Eligible customers must have been impacted by COVID-19.


Application for Services
Services will be provided on a first come first serve basis with greater priority given to vulnerable populations (60+ years; disabled; or have children 5 and under.) Client eligibility is based on income. Service Centers are located throughout Nueces County to increase accessibility to services that eliminate the causes of poverty. Service Center staff assists clients in determining eligibility for all of the available programs. This process can take up to two hours for each client and up to 30 days to receive assistance if eligible.

The case management program assists individuals and families transition out of poverty by assisting them with professional development opportunities, tuition assistance, assistance with books and school supplies, work supplies and other types of assistance that will help meet their goals and rise out of poverty.

The Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) is a utility assistance program designed to assist low income households in reducing home energy burdens and to provide consumers with education incorporating best practices in conserving energy in their home. The CEAP program involves integration of all LIHEAP-funded programs, thereby enhancing efficiency and effectiveness of services provided to customers and eliminating duplication of services.

Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) :

Weatherization is an energy conservation program which helps reduce unnecessary use of energy and fuel costs for elegible low income households. WAP performs the following home modifications in an effort to prevent the loss of energy resulting in high energy costs: Heating and Cooling :

The Housing program provides decent and safe rental housing for eligible low income individuals and families.
**Home modifications and appliance replacements are specifically focused on improving energy efficiency and are not designed to improve overall home appearance.
