Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) |
|
The CEAP program’s goal is to help low income
individuals and families who have the highest need for energy
assistance. Under CEAP there are several programs each with its
own specific criteria. The highest priority is given to those
households of the elderly, the disabled and those with children
under the age of six.
CEAP may help with the payment of a utility bill, repair or
replacement of an
appliance or simply by giving individuals the
resources to become self sufficient
in paying their own utility
expenses. All programs emphasize the saving of energy. |

Intake and eligibility services |
| Eligibility is based on income and specific
criteria for each program. Service Centers are located
throughout Nueces County in order to make our programs easily
accessible to all of our clients. Each Service Center is
staffed by an Intake worker who assists each client in
determining eligibility for all of the available programs. This
process can take up to one and a half to two hours for each
client. All prospective clients will be required to schedule
an appointment by calling the nearest Service Center and
submitting the following documentation prior to the delivery of
any services:
- A valid Texas Drivers License or Texas ID
- Social Security cards for all members of the household
- proof of income for at least 30 days prior to applying
(check stub, award letters etc.)
- Complete an application and obtain all appropriate signatures

|
| Weatherization |
Weatherization is also an energy conservation
program which helps to reduce the amount of unnecessary use of
energy and fuel costs of low income households. The
Weatherization program performs the following home modifications
in order to prevent this loss of energy and the resulting high
costs:
- Weather stripping
- Caulking
- Patching holes
- Insulation of walls and ceilings
- Appliance testing
- Replacing broken windows & doors
- Other minor home modifications
These home modifications are specifically focused on improving
efficiency and are not designed to improve overall home
appearance. |
